UNILIN opens brand-new production site in Czech Republic

In October 2014, UNILIN — the parent company behind Quick-Step — opened a new production site for engineered wood floors in Vyškov, Czech Republic. Besides creating additional capacity, the new facility will also make flooring production better, faster and eco-friendlier.

Supplying a fast-growing market

In 2009, UNILIN started manufacturing engineered wood floors. These floors’ popularity hasn’t stopped growing ever since, making them an important part of Quick-Step’s product portfolio. And with a new state-of-the-art facility in Vyškov — a refurbished Magnum Parket plant — Quick-Step will now be able to meet the growing demand of the European market even better!

Innovative technology

The revamped Vyškov site reaps the benefits of the latest technology in floor manufacturing. Carl Plyson, General Manager Wood at UNILIN: “We’ve upgraded several production lines and increased the site’s capacity and efficiency. The result? The site is now able to produce high-quality floors, integrating our patented Uniclic Multifit technology along the way.”

Closer to Europe

The new site’s central location also comes with a range of benefits. Previously, most UNILIN wood products were manufactured in Malaysia. Now, thanks to the new Vyškov site, Quick-Step is able to bring its floors a lot quicker to the European market, cutting down on transport costs and reducing its carbon footprint in the process!
