Composition: HDF vs synthetic PVC
Laminate and Vinyl differ in composition, but both offer extreme durability. Laminate is built up out of multiple layers and a HDF body, which is made of compressed fibres of recovered wood. Vinyl is also multilayered, incorporating PVC and fibreglass components. These are 100% free of harmful ortho-phthalates.
Appearance: attention to detail
Both laminate and vinyl floors offer unmatched levels of realism. Subtle surface textures with fine grain structures provide a natural wood or stone effect.
Our Perspective Nature laminate collection takes that realism one step further. With its elegant design, authentic structures and realistic bevels, Perspective Nature stands out as one of the most refined laminate floors ever made – nearly indistinguishable from real wood.
Performance: a floor you can rely on
Comfort and sound
Vinyl floors feel soft and warm. Treading on them is a pleasant experience in every way. Their acoustic performance dampens unwanted noise from heels, boots, trainers and paws.
Laminate floors tend to be slightly louder due to their hard surface and light weight. They also might feel a little hollow underfoot.
Both flooring types are compatible with underfloor heating, although vinyl is slightly more efficient. Vinyl floors have the lowest thermal resistance of all Quick-Step flooring solutions and act as excellent thermal conductors.
Water-repellent technology, combined with the patented Uniclic (Multifit) click system prevents water from damaging your laminate and vinyl floors. All vinyl floors are completely waterproof, and most Quick-Step laminate floors have an innovative HydroSeal coating in the grooves, so no water can seep through.
Wear and tear
Quick-Step laminate and vinyl floors top the charts in terms of impact resistance, durability and scratch resistance. Smart technologies such as the patented Scratch Guard top layer give our floors a significantly higher scratch resistance.
